Description

Baptisia is considered a great remedy for typhoid fevers, it increases the resistant power of the body against typhoid. Indicated in the ill effects of anti-typhoid serum injections. Patient is drowsy, stupid besotted looking, slides down in bed due to the extreme prostration. There is an indescribable sick-feeling. Patient thinks he is broken or double, and tosses about in bed trying to get the pieces together.

It affects the blood, causing asthenic type symptoms, low fevers, septic conditions of blood, malarial poisoning and extreme prostration. There is marked feeling of soreness, heaviness and aching of muscles. Bed feels too hard, yet he feels too weak to move. All secretions are dark and offensive – stool, urine, haemorrhage, etc. Great muscular soreness and putrid phenomena are always present. There are livid spots all over the body and limbs. Breath is fetid, tongue feels burnt, yellowish-brown, edges red and shiny. Least solid food gags, patient can swallow liquids only. Chronic intestinal toxaemia of children with fetid stools and eructation. Threatened miscarriage from mental depression, shock, night watching and low fevers also comes under its action.
