It is called gingivitis in initial stage, where the gums are swollen, red and bleeding. In advanced stage, it is called periodontitis, where the gums are pulled away from tooth and the teeth may fall off. It is caused due to bacterial infection in the mouth and factors like smoking, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, family history, etc. can increase the risk to develop this disease.
