Description

Hydrastis has marked action on the mucus membranes, relaxing them, causing catarrhal process and producing a thick, yellowish, ropy mucus with a tendency to haemorrhage and ulceration. It produces atonic, cachectic and degenerative conditions, and hence, it is especially suited in old, easily tired people, cachectic individuals with great debility, poor digestion and obstinate constipation. Catarrh may be present in any part – throat, stomach, uterus and urethra. Mucus is found in the stools and urine; hence it can be called as a mucus remedy.

Useful in cancerous state with pain, before ulceration. There is depression, is sure of death and desires it. Ophthalmia, otorrhoea, ozaena, pharyngitis, cough, leucorrhoea, all with the characteristic mucus discharge. It also removes the tendency to habitual adherent placenta. Pain across lumbar region, must use arms in raising himself from seat.
