This Indian shrub is highly efficacious in the affections of the respiratory tract (used in the beginning), especially of the catarrhal type. It is useful in Bronchitis, Asthma, Whooping cough, Laryngismus stridulous, Influenza, Pneumonia and even in Phthisis. A constant flow of mucus discharge accompanying any of these conditions is the guiding symptom for Justicia.
Head feels hot and heavy. Mucous membrane of nose and eyes is congested with profuse coryza. There is loss of smell and taste. Larynx is painful, congested and attended with hoarseness. Paroxysmal cough with sneezing and severe dyspnoea due to tightness across chest are some important symptoms. For the paroxysmal & Dry cough from sternal region all over chest with suffocative obstruction of respiration.
